Browser video tool

Reverse video for loop effects

Play a clip backwards in your browser for rewind effects, boomerang-style loops and reveal shots. Free, no sign-up, MP4 download.

Upload a video to reverse
MP4, MOV, or WebM. Up to 5 minutes and 300MB.

How to reverse a video in your browser

1. Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM clip of up to 300MB and 5 minutes. The reverse tool has no settings: it plays the whole uploaded clip backwards.
2. Select Reverse video. Picture and sound are both reversed; if the audio cannot be processed, the clip is exported without sound instead.
3. Preview the reversed MP4 and download it. Short clips process fastest, because the browser has to hold the frames in memory to play them backwards.

What reversing a video is good for

Rewind effects

Water flowing back up, a dropped object jumping into a hand or smoke drawing back in: moments that look surprising when played backwards.

Boomerang-style loops

Play a clip forward, then backward, so it ends where it started. Reverse it here, then join the original and the reversed copy in a video editor.

Reveal and product shots

Turn a camera pull-back into a push-in, or packing a product away into an unboxing, without filming again.

A longer clip

Forward plus reverse doubles the running time of a short clip. See how to make a video longer.

Which clips look natural in reverse

Some motion has no obvious direction, and some gives itself away at once. Check the clip with this in mind before you build an effect around it:

FootagePlayed backwards
Slow camera moves, drone push-ins and pull-backsUsually looks natural
Clouds, smoke, swaying plants, gentle wavesOften natural; watch for wind or drifting particles
Product turntables and animated logosNatural, the motion simply runs the other way
Pouring, splashes, falling objectsClearly reversed, good for a deliberate rewind effect
People walking or talkingLooks odd: steps and lips run backwards
Speech and musicReversed audio is unintelligible; mute or replace it in an editor

Reverse or seamless loop?

A forward-then-backward clip returns to its first frame, so it can repeat, but the motion visibly changes direction at each end. A seamless loop keeps moving one way: the AI seamless loop on the LoopVideo homepage generates a transition of about five seconds from the final frame back to the first, so the clip restarts without a jump or a change of direction. AI requires sign-in, and email accounts must be verified. The one-time free trial adds a visible LoopVideo watermark, and one paid credit gives a watermark-free result.

If the reverse effect itself is what you want, download the MP4 and use it as it is, or convert it to a GIF for chats and documents.

FAQ

Does the reverse tool reverse the audio too?

Yes, it tries to reverse both picture and sound. If the audio cannot be processed, the clip is exported without sound instead of failing. Reversed speech and music sound unnatural, so you may want to mute or replace the audio in an editor.

Is reversing the same as a seamless loop?

No. Reverse plays the clip backwards. A seamless loop adds a transition from the last frame back to the first so the clip can repeat without a jump. The AI seamless loop on the LoopVideo homepage does that and requires sign-in.

How do I make a boomerang video that plays forward and then backward?

Reverse the clip here, then place the original and the reversed copy one after the other in a video editor and export them as one file. This tool reverses a single clip; it does not join clips.

Can I reverse only part of a video?

No. The whole uploaded clip is reversed. Trim the part you need in a video editor first.

What format is the reversed video?

An H.264 MP4 that you download from the result panel. The picture is re-encoded, so quality can change slightly.

Is there a length or size limit?

Inputs can be up to 300MB and 5 minutes; above 100MB or 60 seconds a performance warning appears. Reversing keeps the frames in memory, so long or high-resolution clips may fail on phones and other devices with little memory. Short clips work best.

Is it free, and is my video uploaded?

Reversing is free and needs no login or credits. The video is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.
